Who We Are

We are the Living Learning Community of the Cultures and Communities Program at University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee, nine classmates from the 5th floor.  We take “Multicultural America,” or English 150, together, and occasionally meet with the students of the Visual Arts Living Learning Community to collaborate on projects that allow us to consider different perspectives on the same texts.

Our goal is to work as a “bridge,” if you will, between the UWM campus east of the Milwaukee River and the Riverwest community just west of it. Our course work includes attending and writing about community as well as campus events, and reading and writing about multicultural America. We also plan to publish a “Neighbor Spotlight” as well as an article about RiverView students in the community newspaper, Riverwest Currents.  Through this type of community service, we hope to inform the community about us while contributing to it in a positive way.

We represent the campus, as students of it, but also interact with members of Riverwest's community, learning what it means to create and sustain a community that is a better place for everyone.

Here we live and learn with one another in the striving for something greater.
